Happy early birthday to the most photographed sister, ever! She’s a spunky, cute, bilingual little girl that never runs out of hugs or I-love-you’s. We were just starting to take our photography seriously when Mom found out she was expecting. So we’ve used and abused (figuratively) that cute little face, and she miraculously still doesn’t hate the camera. It’s been quite the journey of growth for us all over the past four years; here’s a little walk down memory lane:
My, how she’s grown! The days and weeks pass so quickly you don’t realize the small, insignificant changes that transformed this chubby newborn into a lean toddler. These days we play pretend (she’s the mommy), have sleepovers, and ride to church together. We visit and love on her and when we can’t bear another round of hide-and-go-seek, we leave-and-go-home. It’s great.
Eva Luna has been the perfect little muse to learn and grow with. Last week we visited with some horses in hopes of some shots for her My Little Pony themed birthday.
With Kamden’s first birthday session approaching, now is as good as ever to blog his 6 month session. We met the Kummerle’s at our 2012 mini session, and by our 2013 mini sessions they were already expecting Mr. Kamden. Not long after, he was welcomed into this world to overjoyed parents that loved him more than life.
Kamden grew, and I was delighted to capture how well he rocked 6 months.
Today we’re playing another round of catch-up on the blog! Yay! It’s nearly the end of winter, and I’m blogging a summer session… Well, that’s because these are our slower months of shooting, and our busy season of booking consultations, re-assessing last year, and preparing for an absolutely crazy year we have ahead. This year we’ll be shooting more, traveling more, and diving into a personal endeavor that we’re extremely excited about!
I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again– we had AMAZING seniors last year! Megan is no exception as we shot our first of many sessions to come at Hueston Woods. She brought along so many cute props; it was fun incorporating them into her session. Not to mention we had an amazing backdrop as well!
Since I blogged about my embarrassing moment I experienced at Laura + Brett’s wedding, I figured it was only fit that I also blogged their gorgeous engagement session that took place earlier last Spring at Ault Park. Yeah yeah, that was almost a year ago…but this session was too pretty to pass up! And boy does it make me long for Spring! It’s been a bitter cold year, and the fresh blooms from this session are making me more than nostalgic.
Let me tell you about my most embarrassing moment of 2014. After the ceremony, Laura & Brett, the bridal party, and family gathered around for photos. Let me preface by stating I’m great at remembering names, horrible at remembering faces. It also doesn’t hurt to mention that Brett and his brother, Chad, look a lot alike! Ok ok, not twins, but you see the resemblance, right?! Let me ALSO mention that it was at Laura & Brett’s last pre-wedding consult a few weeks prior where my purse was stolen including its contents — my wallet, iPod, and GLASSES. So there we were, taking bridal party photos when Laura asks to have an additional photo. I remark, “absolutely!” and glance up to see a tall slender man in grey attire. I snap exhibit A:
But I couldn’t stop there…A bride and groom need more pictures than just that! As I continue directing with more poses, they look at me strangely and comply. “Now look at one another.” Snap. “Ok, now you’re going to move towards one another and go in for a kiss without actually kissing.” I’m laughing at myself in embarrassment just typing this. Laura looks at me and replies, “You know this isn’t Brett, right?” OMG. I took another glance at this slender man in grey, and it suddenly became apparent the man I was asking the bride to almost kiss was NOT her groom!! Suffice to say I apologized more times than I can remember. But the great thing about these two and their entire bridal party is that they are so easy-going. They played it off and were such good sports that we captured a similar photo of Brett with Laura’s sister. Exhibit B:
We’re thankful for such great clients and the ability to laugh at ourselves when we make stupid mistakes. Although, here’s to hoping that NEVER happens again! Their day was beautiful, and we are so glad we got to know Laura & Brett.
There’s that go-in-for-a-kiss-without-actually-kissing pose I was talking about! :)Like to do things a little unorthodox around these parts, so I blogged their engagement session AFTER their wedding, nearly a year later. It can be seen HERE.
