Jamie + Jared | Canyon Run Ranch “Day After” Wedding Session

As mentioned in the previous post, it rained for most Jamie and Jared’s wedding. It was so fun to meet back up with them in their wedding day attire at their wedding venue and shoot some portraits of them without the added stressors of a typical wedding day! If you are considering a post-wedding session, we highly recommend it! This is obviously a very biased opinion, but hear me out! Sometimes there are unforeseen events that can occur on a wedding day that leave little time for just the bride and groom (and photographer!). Scheduling a session like this soon after the wedding means 1) you’re still in that newlywed-bliss-wedding-high and there are hearts surrounding you ;) 2) you’re more relaxed because you’re not on a strict timeline 3) the session can be scheduled during the optimal “golden hour” to shoot without interfering with ceremony/reception times and 4) you get to play dress up again! Who says you only get to wear your dress once?

With that being said, we were able to do just that with Jamie and Jared. We had a wonderfully sunny (albeit hot) day, which set a vast contrast from their wedding day.

Our first wedding to come with a tornado warning!! You know, the kind that buzzes to everyone’s phone to “seek shelter immediately” just as the reception begins.

Jamie dreamed of an outdoor ceremony. Instead, it rained and poured with no signs of a break. Hoping and praying for a break in the storm, the ceremony was postponed an hour. And just like that, the clouds parted, and the sun came out just in time for Jamie to have the ceremony of her dreams. Then without a warning, the storm returned with a fierceness unlike before. Although the weather wasn’t ideal, there was a serene beauty about the day. Jamie married the man of her dreams and guests were heard celebrating their love down the hill from the barn.

With that being said, we still returned to Canyon Run Ranch about a month later and shot sunset portraits of Jamie and Jared :)
